KETCHUM – LOS ANGELES: Laurie MacCaskill, a 12-year survivor of pancreatic cancer and former chair of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has announced a newly established partnership with CancerConnect to support pancreatic cancer patients with information, support and inspiration. CancerConnect, a national organization provides support and information to more than 1 million patients each year.

Laurie will direct the development of the cancer education and support programs for CancerConnect, applying her strong belief that knowledge is power. Through CancerConnect, she will help to inform, educate, inspire and empower patients, giving them the tools to gain confidence and the ability to eliminate stress, providing a healing environment to navigate a challenging journey.

MacCaskill is widely recognized within the cancer community for her inspirational battle with pancreatic cancer and her tireless advocacy. In 2006, in perfect health she received this devastating diagnosis, endured years of treatment and complications only to be told she had 3-6 months to live. Today, cancer free, Laurie offers guidance and most importantly, an encouraging hand reaching out to ensure that hope remains in the forefront. She has inspired pancreatic cancer patients and shared her journey as a guest on the Dr. Oz show featuring Medical Miracles, CNN Health Minute, KABC morning news in Los Angeles, People Magazine, Shape Magazine, The Mighty, Coping magazine, Everyday Health, American Society Clinical Oncology, Research America and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Laurie has also traveled the country delivering motivational speeches, and interacted with volunteers, patients, researchers, industry professionals and Members of Congress as an advocate for the advancement of pancreatic cancer treatment.
