CancerConnect has launched an online market research survey to evaluate cancer patients use patterns and perceptions of social media. Social media platforms like CancerConnect and Facebook have developed patient focused communities where cancer patients and their caregivers share information and support. New concerns however have recently been raised about Facebook’s privacy policies, the sharing of user information, and Facebook’s Ad serving business model, which targets cancer patients. The survey is designed to better understand how and why individuals impacted by a diagnosis of cancer chose to use or not use social media. The survey is designed to recruit 2000 cancer patients and results will be available at the end of April.
